In the spirit of this year’s Fresher’s week, KSU has announced a new socio-environmental campaign — The Green Fund — which will be open to all students to benefit from.
This initiative is intended to significantly reduce traffic and pollution from our streets, and alleviate the problem of parking on campus, by encouraging and rewarding sustainable transport among car owners.
This year, KSU will be collecting a Green Contribution of €3 with every parking permit issued. The money collected for the fund will be used to organise and finance environmental initiatives. Thus, The Green Fund will be dedicated to making alternative modes of transport more accessible to all students by, for example, funding more motorcycle lessons and improving the car pooling system already in place at UOM. “A board will be appointed to ensure fair administration of funds and transparency”, said KSU.
On Monday 1st October at 1.30pm, KSU will be holding a press conference beneath the library, to launch Freshers’ Week and to demonstrate all the related initiatives launching over the next few weeks.
