In anticipation to the upcoming Formula SAE Italy competition, student organisation University of Malta Racing (UoMR) unveiled their latest car, whilst at the same time showing off its previous versions to a number of partners and collaborators from the University of Malta, industry, the public sector and various media.
The car itself is said to include a record number of firsts for the UoMR team. In fact, it’s the first iteration to feature a turbocharged engine, an in-house developed data acquisition system and also the lightest chassis iteration so far. The car also flaunts the colours red and white, representing the Maltese flag, based on a carbon fibre background. This car will be taking UoMR to its fourth entry into a Formula Student event, following very successful attempts in 2007, 2014 and 2015.
The formula-style car which was wholly built by students was launched in front of the Parliament-side steps in the presence of the University Rector, Prof. Alfred J. Vella, and Hon. Evarist Bartolo who praised the students’ efforts as a model for educational endeavours.
