The new committee appointed to lead the Maltese Association for Physical Education (MAPE) is now aiming to take their role to the next level by not only promoting its work with professionals but also raise awareness and share knowledge with the general public.
The association was revived back in 2013 in hopes to be a connection and foster communication with many stakeholders coming from the physical education sphere. Its main drive is to make use of the impact social media has on society in order to promote physical education with the Maltese population at large. MAPE’s aim is that of bringing together physical educators from the public, church and independent educational sectors in hopes of strengthening the field of PE and sports in schools. Moreover it will also give PE teachers the opportunity to share and discuss relevant issues for the advancement of Physical Education in Malta.
The MAPE committee formed last May is made up of members coming from different physical education settings. The committee is chaired by Dr. Andrew Decelis, also the director of the Institute of PE and Sport at the University of Malta. Graziella Galea as Vice President, Paul Calleja as Secretary, Brenda Muscat as Committee Treasurer, Tiziana Zammit as Public Relations Officer and Jean Claude Dimech and Samantha Tabone are general members represented in the committee.
