Transphobic message on the walls of gender neutral bathroom at UoM

A reader sent this photo to Insite today after a visit (as one does) to the gender neutral bathroom at students house.

It’s shocking and disappointing that at such a highly regarded educational institution one finds messages such as these…which shows so much ignorance and hate towards a group of society which already faces too much discrimination as it is.

What was the purpose of writing it in the gender neutral bathroom? Where, obviously, people who are trans* or non-binary, will see it? Do they need a reminder that so many people in society think that they are “sick”?

Well sorry to break it to you, but they’re not sick, they’re not ill. People who are trans or non-binary experience more mental health problems not because of their identity, but because of society’s ignorance.
