Amy Camilleri Zahra and Julian Bajada are amongst the inspirational individuals featured in Ira Losco’s latest music video for the new single ‘We Are The Soldiers’.
Amy Zahra is a psychology lecturer at the University of Malta specialising in Disability Studies. She is loved and admired by students for her sweet and charismatic nature, as well as her sheer determination.
Becoming an amputee after surviving meningitis did not stop Zahra from becoming an inspiration for other people with disabilities, notably through successful national awareness-raising campaigns and her continuous research on the area. She also founded the NGO Amputees4Amputees, which supports individuals who have already or are yet to go through amputation.
Julian Bajada is a final year law student at UoM who is fast becoming one of Malta’s most prominent professional swimmers, and is training towards eventually making it to the Paralympics.
Additionally, Bajada was one of the more impressive speakers during the first edition of TEDxUniversityofMalta late last year, where he commented on the importance of building a strong character that is capable of facing the harsh realities of life.
‘We Are The Soldiers’, written by Ira Losco herself, is a powerful anthem that speaks about resilience and inner strength. The video for the single also features visually-impaired athlete Karl Abela and cancer survivor turned TV presenter Charlene Mercieca. The song is a collaboration with the Malta Philarmonic Orchestra.
Fans of Ira Losco had been awaiting new material from the popular singer-songstress since her participation at the Eurovision Song Contest last year with ‘Walk on Water’, which ended up placing 12th in the final.
Johann Agius is a fourth year law student who is currently the CEO of Insite after fulfilling the roles of Public Relations Officer and External Relations Officer in previous years. He joined Insite as a writer and photographer in 2013 and was elected in the executive for the first time a year later.
