Sai Mulan’s rehearsals are underway, and the buzz about the production has started to mount. There are some characters that seem to be present at every rehearsal, and these are just some of the most prominent people you’ll find.
1.The Hopeful Coordinators
Dancing, singing or acting, they’ll all be excited to teach the cast what needs to be done. This can only end in one of two ways; either their dreams live to see another day, or they’re brutally crushed under the weight of the cast not understanding anything.
We’re not all born dancers, and some of us are never really meant for the art of dance. Try as you might, there are people who’ll never move it to the beat.
3. The musical theatre fanatic
They know every musical that ever played at Broadway and the West End, and you’ll never hear the end of it. They’ll also probably wear a t-shirt of their favourite musical at every rehearsal.
4. The overtired one
Look for the one dressed like a hobo, with bags under his/her eyes for days.
5. The Clueless one
If you still don’t know if you’re in this scene, then you are this person.
6. The drama queen
This is the person who’s bound to start a cat fight by the end of the production, and everyone in the cast knows who he/she is.
7. The Party Animal
This is the one who’s at every party and is always prepared to organise some sort of gathering after rehearsal. And yes, this is the person who’ll probably be drunk on stage during the performance.
8. The tone-deaf singer
You can’t hold a harmony even if your life depends on it.
9. The show-off
This person knows every line and every move, and makes damn sure everyone knows it. Yes, I know you went to insert performing arts school here, but you don’t have to shove it in my face.
10. The one who doesn’t know their lines
And he/she never will.
11. The sick one
There’s always that one person who’s a tissue dispenser at a rehearsal, but don’t worry, you will all get sick to some extent by the end of the production.
12. The tardy one
When a coordinator calls out the attendance for rehearsal, you’ll know that a particular person will always show up at least half an hour late.
13. The Denis Muscat
KSU’s Culture and Entertainment Officer always makes it to every rehearsal. He hovers around the cast for a couple seconds, gives some assuring nods, and disappears. But we all know how much this production means to him.
We’re all hyped to see what the cast of Sai Mulan will come up with for the 21, 22, and 23rd of April, so make sure to follow updates about Student Fest here on The Insiter!
