Insite will once again be covering the informative annual conference by Betapsi and Willingness, which this year will be tackling different types of addiction.
The 360° conference has become somewhat of an annual appointment for psychology students and others who want to experience a multidisciplinary approach towards a given subject, which this year is interesting to say the least.
Addressing addiction, the third edition of the conference will be held on Saturday 11th March at Skyparks. Topics discussed in the form of interactive workshops will include drug addiction, abuse in relationships, issues faced by adoloscents such as peer pressure, pornography and gambling, amongst others.
Betapsi states that the aim of 360°, which was launched in 2014 and has focused on themes such as family life and sexuality, is to tackle current and relevant topics from various perspectives of professionals from diverse fields; a multidisciplinary approach. In fact, due to the different aspects relating to the subject of addiction, this year’s conference is being supported by fellow student organisations GhSL (Ghaqda Studenti tal-Ligi) and CSA (Criminology Students Association).
Addiction 360° will be opened by H.E. The President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, followed by a brief hotseat session with the CEO of Yo Bet It, the main sponsor of this year’s conference. This will be followed by a case review session by the team at Willingness, whose participation in 360° has become synonymous with the annual conference.
The rest of the programme will then include a series of concurrent workshops tackling various forms of addiction and other related topics:
- Motivational Interviewing by Anthony Gatt (Caritas)
- Understanding the Stubborn Character of Addiction by Anthony Dimech
- Sex Addiction by Matthew Bartolo (Willingness)
- Work Addiction by Steve Libreri (Willingness)
- The Complications of Addiction by Leon David Madden (Caritas)
- Substance Misuse in the Older Population by Aloisia Camilleri
- Addiction vs. Social Connection by Seralie Bonett
- Spirituality and Drug Addiction by Vicky Scicluna (Sedqa)
- Pornography Addiction by Anna Catania (Willingness)
Judge Giovanni Bonello, well-known for contributing to huge developments in human rights regulation both locally and internationally, will be delivering the last workshop Addiction 360°. He will be discussing the transition from criminality, in relation to addiction, towards social solidarity. Justice Minister Owen Bonnici will be officially closing the conference.
Insite will be covering Addiction 360° from 9am onwards on Saturday 11th March, including live updates on our Facebook page.
