Now former Vice President of the Malta Model United Nations Society Mr Saman Bugeja has been unanimously elected the new Secretary General after former Sec-Gen Mr Jon Gudmundsson resigned following developments in his professional career making it impossible for him to continue. The Society said in a Press Release earlier today that they “would like to congratulate Mr. Jon Gudmundsson for recent developments in his career,” pointing towards an amicable split.

In his resignation letter, Mr Gudmundsson explained that it was not an easy decision, and that “personal reasons may have hindered him from dedicating as much time to the society as he would have liked.” He also thanked MaltMUN President Ms Clara Chetcuti for their time working together, wishing the society luck for the future.

The EGM comes in the wake of this year’s conference ‘Death of the Border Elimination Lines of Demarcation Between States’, which will be happening between the 15th and 17th September. The committees include the Security Council, International Court of Justice, the Special Political and Decolonisation Committee, the Economic and Financial Council, and the World Health Organisation.
